My daughter is a bit of a solar system nut. She has made numerous models, mobiles, and posters. She even made up her own song to remember the planets. This last fall she had the idea of making a felt solar system. Annie suggested I share it here and after her wonderful review of A Child's Introduction to the Night Sky I was inspired to share.
We worked with the stash of felt I have from recycled wool sweaters and blankets.
We cut two circles for each planet. We sewed on the details before sewing the circles together.
We left a small gap for stuffing with wool.
The plan was to make a mobil with them but she decided to leave them like this so she could play with them... and they have seen lots of play time.
